Ontario added 32,900 jobs in December, recording a second straight month of job creation.

Ontario’s strong plan to protect health care and education, eliminate the deficit and build a more competitive business climate helped the province add 52,400 net new jobs in 2012.

Providing the right climate to attract investment and build business is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create jobs and strengthen the economy. A strong economy protects the services that mean the most to families — health care and education.

Quick Facts

  • Ontario created over 82 per cent of the jobs in Canada in December 2012.
  • Employment in Ontario has increased by 411,000 net jobs from the recessionary low in June 2009.
  • Ontario ranks third in North America for attracting foreign direct investment projects.

“We are building in Ontario an economy that offers the right climate for businesses to grow and create quality jobs. And that growth is producing results, with new jobs for Ontario families.”
